Mission and Services

Claretian Associates has been a force of stabilization and improvement in South Chicago since 1991. Our mission is to build community within the culturally diverse neighborhood of South Chicago by working with community leaders, residents, and organizations to provide affordable housing and related services for low- and moderate-income people, build resident-based leadership, and serve as a catalyst in creating innovative solutions to community problems.

Claretian Associates' affordable housing initiatives include new construction, property management and community-driven planning to meet the needs of a predominantly low- to moderate-income population that is primarily African-American and Latino. We provide referrals for lending and pre- and post-purchase counseling to support new homeowners and help renters find housing that will deepen their ties to the community. These efforts create a continuum of quality, affordable housing and services that are essential to a stable community.

Claretian Associates focuses its development efforts on a twelve-block area for maximum visibility and impact. Claretian Associates also provides housing services, referrals, and technical assistance to the entire community bounded by the 60617 zip code, which has a population of approximately 56,000.
