New Parks & New Connections in the 10th Ward
Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 10:00 pm – 12:00 pm
Knowledge Hook-Up
Address: Knowledge Hook-up, 3457 E 106th Street, Chicago, IL 60617
All are welcome to hear a presentation and then join a discussion about new parks and new greenways in the 10th Ward. Since Chicago’s founding, generations have contributed to the city’s legacy of public parks and greenways. In the spirit of citizen heroes like Montgomery Ward and environmental champions like Daniel Burnham, Friends of the Parks has been working with citizens, community groups, and public leaders to increase parkland and natural areas, with connecting greenways in the city’s southeast side. The Last Four Miles: A Plan to Complete Chicago’s Lakefront Parks proposes 400 acres of new parks and beaches on the south lakefront with connections to natural areas and existing and proposed recreational trails in the Calumet area.
