Seniors kick it up at new Senior Center

This year's Cinco de Mayo Senior Health & Resource Fair did more than provide dozens of health screenings, free lunch and entertainment to over 200 area seniors.

It showcased the new City of Chicago South Chicago Senior Center open each week day from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 9233 South Burley Avenue. (312-745-1282)

Villa Guadalupe Senior Services is proud to be the administrator of the site.

The 16th annual fair also provided the opportunity for 10th Ward Alderman John Pope and Joyce Gallagher, Executive Director, Area Office on Aging, Chicago Department of Family & Support Services to welcome seniors to their new center as part of Older American's Month.

The fair provided over 36 vendors offering free services inclduing the Secretary of State's mobile unit where seniors and their families updated their driver's licenses or their id's. Area clinics, hosptials and home health agencies offered free screenings including bone density, blood pressure, vision, cholesterol, glucose, mental health and much, much more. Free Bingo, free lunch and great entertainment were available, too.

Generous sponors included Advocate Trinity Hospital and Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center.
