Angela Hurlock, Executive Director, joined Claretian Associates in 2004 after three years as the Senior Director of Real Estate Development for Bethel New Life, a non-profit serving Chicago's West Side. She has also worked for several years as a Project Manager and Architect for private design and architectural firms in Chicago. Angela holds Masters Degrees in Architecture and Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She completed the Urban Developers Program co-sponsored by the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Chicago Rehab Network. Angela is a Board member with the Chicago Rehab Network and the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce.
Lupe Castañeda, Project Manager, joined Claretian Associates in 2005, after working for Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago since 1997. During her time with NHS, Lupe served in a variety of positions including Loan Processor, Loan Specialist and Loan Officer. She primarily worked at NHS’ South Chicago site located in Claretian Associates’ offices. Lupe previously worked at Community Investment Corporation as a Construction Payout Manager for six years. She holds an Associates Degree in Business Management from Robert Morris College and is a licensed loan officer. Lupe is fluent in Spanish and is originally from the Bush neighborhood of South Chicago.
Kate Graham, Associate Director, is responsible for resource development and communications for the organization. Kate earned her Bachelor's degree in English from Indiana University and a certificate in Non-Profit Administration from University of Illinois at Chicago. From 1991-1998, Kate worked at Claretian Associates and Villa Guadalupe in a variety of capacities including Director of Resource Development of both organizations, as well as Executive Director of Villa Guadalupe Senior Services. She returned to Claretian Associates in 2003.
Jennie Martinez, Receptionist, joined Claretian Associates in 2000 as the bilingual afternoon Receptionist. She is the friendly voice who answers the phone and greets clients in the afternoon. Jennie is a life-long South Chicago resident.
Froilan Nuñez, Controller, joined Claretian Associates in 2003, providing agency accounting, preparing budgets and monitoring financial compliance for grants and contracts. Froilan has ten years of accounting experience primarily in the health care industry. He earned his Associates' degree in accounting from Harold Washington College. Froi is bilingual and a life-long South Chicago resident.
Graciela Robledo, Organizer, New Communities Program, manages outreach initiatives and our financial literacy working group comprised of 15 area banks and organizations. As the NCP organizer, she is responsible for organizing and assisting in implementing South Chicago’s Quality of Life Plan. Graciela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Xavier University and is fluent in Spanish. She is a resident of South Chicago.
Rene Reyes, Housing Preservation Coordinator, joined Claretian Associates in 2008 and primarily focuses in foreclosure prevention and financial literacy. He earned his Bachelor's in Public Communications from DePaul University and Master's degree in Business Management from Robert Morris College. Rene is bilingual and is originally from South Chicago.
Jackie Samuel. Director, New Communities Program, has an extensive history in the performing arts, arts education and administration. Jackie previously served as the lead arts consultant for LISC/Chicago’s Building Communities through the Arts (BCA) program, part of their New Communities Program. Jackie has provided and coordinated professional development programs for the Bureau of Cultural Arts, Chicago Board of Education. She has served as an arts consultant and teaching artist for Chicago Arts Partnership in Education since its inception. For four years, she was the Director of Bethel Cultural Arts Center for the parent community development corporation, Bethel New Life.
