South Chicago Senior housing
In 2019, Claretian Associates established a partnership with Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) towards acquiring 101 of affordable senior rental apartments at the former South Chicago YMCA. After some redevelopment and construction aimed to better serve residents, other local families and neighboring communities, the South Chicago Senior Homes and SALUD Center, opened to the public on June of 2021. The SALUD Center (salud meaning health in Spanish) aligns itself with Claretian Associates mission to provide affordable housing for low-income
families. The SALUD Center consist of 100+ units of affordable senior housing (located at 3039 E. 91st Street), and promotes resident health, including the prevention of new illnesses and injuries, coordination of health/behavioral health care and other critical social services (e.g. case management), along with increased access to nutritious food through produce delivery.
