About Us Ceasefire Illinois/Cure Violence is an anti-violence program guided by clear understandings that violence is a health issue that individuals and communities can change for the better, that community partners and strategic partnerships are keys to success, and that rigorous, scientific, professional ways of working are essential for effectiveness.
The Cure Violence model encompasses three components that are used to reduce outbreaks of violence. 1) Detect and interrupt potentially violent conflicts, 2) identify and treat highest risk, and 3) mobilize the community to change norms. This program has been very impactful in not only reducing violence but engaging and redirecting individuals who are prone to recidivism. |
Claretian Associates is in partnership with Ceasefire Illinois/Cure Violence as its host agency for participants within the South Chicago, South Shore, and Woodlawn community areas. The agency has been vital to the successful deterrence of criminal activity among participants of the program due to its wealth of resources both in-house and throughout its network.
Claretian Associates is able to provide many resources on-site for Ceasefire participants, who represent some of the highest risk youth and young adults within these communities. These resources include affordable housing, financial literacy services, seasonal work opportunities, and soft skill workforce training, among others. Within its network, the agency has connected participants of the program to services such as mental health services, parenting skill development programs, public benefit services, and educational resources among others.
